Getting Started
Considering adopting a canine or feline friend? The matchmaking process begins by printing out either a Dog Adoption Client Questionnaire or a Cat Adoption Client Questionnaire. Fill in the information on page one and bring the questionnaire with you when you visit the shelter.

Placing an Animal on HOLD
Our Adoption Hold program is designed for our clients' needs. Clients are encouraged to place a hold on an animal either over the phone, or in person at the shelter. Because the hold is for your convenience and not something we require, we do charge for this service. A first hold on an animal is $15.00 and is honored until the close of business the following day; a second hold is $10.00; If you see a hold on an animal, we encourage you to call to find out if the animal has two holds; if not you may put a second hold on the pet. A maximum of two holds are permitted on any one pet. Hold fees are non-refundable and are not applied towards the adoption fee.

To put an animal on hold, please call 303-442-4030 during our regular shelter hours to speak to an animal welfare associate.

Your Support Saves Lives
It costs the Humane Society of Boulder Valley an average of $280 to care for each animal during their stay at the shelter. You can help us by sponsoring one of our homeless animals today. Simply go to the animal's detailed profile page and click on the donate link for the animal you would like to sponsor!

At the Humane Society of Boulder Valley we are committed to finding homes for companion animals. Our progressive adoption program places thousands of lost, abandoned and unwanted pets with loving guardians. Financial contributions from our community and supporters directly benefit our animals.

PetSmart Charities Rescue Waggin

The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is proud to be a part of the PetSmart Charities Rescue Waggin' program. Rescue Waggin' is a unique shelter transport program that moves dogs available for adoption from shelters with very high overpopulation to shelters like ours, where dogs available for adoption are in demand and have a better chance at finding new homes. Through this partnership and through collaborations with local animal welfare agencies across the country, our shelter is saving the lives of puppies and dogs that would otherwise have been euthanized.
