Veterinary Clinic Assistant Major Objective: Provide support to the Humane Society veterinary clinic, assisting in pre- and post-operative care of animals.
Duties:
Sterilize and assemble surgical packs.
Provide care for hospitalized animals.
Monitor animals coming out of anesthesia (includes moderate to heavy lifting).
Transport animals scheduled for surgery from the shelter to clinic. Potty and weigh animals as needed.
Assist clinic with laundry, cleaning kennels and floors, and general maintenance of the clinic.
Assist with other duties as needed.
Training Requirements: Complete volunteer application and attend volunteer information session. Interview with Volunteer Department. Hands-on training provided by clinic and volunteer department staff.
Commitment: Weekly 1-3 hour shift for minimum of six months. Volunteer must call if unable to make a scheduled shift.
Volunteer Profile: Not for the very squeamish! Individual should possess a desire to volunteer in a fast paced, high volume veterinary practice for shelter and public animals. Volunteer should be emotionally prepared to handle emergency care patients, euthanasia, and view routine surgical procedures.
